Rio Ferdinand out injured for six weeks

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand will be out for six weeks with a hamstring injury suffered during Sunday's Barclays Premier League game at West Brom. The former England captain limped off in the second half of the 2-1 victory at The Hawthorns and manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed after the game Ferdinand will be out until the start of October. Out: Ferdinand is substituted after pulling his hamstring It means the 32-year-old will miss the games against Arsenal and Chelsea and England's two Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales. Fellow central defender Nemanja Vidicalso succumbed to injury today, struggling with a calf problem with theopening minutes before eventually coming off just after half-time. It all adds up to serious defensiveconcerns for Ferguson who yesterday lost Rafael for 10 weeks after he dislocated a shoulder in training.
