Cherries: Ex-boss Howe swoops for Ings

EX-Cherries boss Eddie Howe is understood to have raided his former club to sign highly-rated striker Danny Ings. The 19-year-old hotshot is believed to have reunited with Howe at Burnley for a fee expected to rise to around £1m. A product of the club's youth set-up, Ings blossomed for Cherries after being handed his full debut by Howe at MK Dons at the end of December. Cherries rejected offers from Fulham and Crystal Palace for prize asset Ings over the summer, with chairman Eddie Mitchell insisting he would become the club's first £1m player. And, although news of Ings's departure has yet to be confirmed by the club, it is understood Burnley met Cherries' asking price after having an initial bid turned down. News of Ings's exit will come as another bombshell to manager Lee Bradbury, his squad and the club's long-suffering supporters. He joins a list of summer sales, which includes Jason Pearce, Rhoys Wiggins and Anton Robinson, while Danny Hollands exercised his right to a free transfer. Marvin Bartley, who also joined Burnley last season, and Brett Pitman and Josh McQuoid have also been sold in the past 12 months. Earlier this week, Winchester-born Ings hinted a move could be on the cards when he expressed his desire to showcase his talents at a higher level. In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: Obviously, I was disappointed the offers were turned down. It would have been a good opportunity for me. At the moment, all I can do is focus on playing for Bournemouth. I am very grateful to Bournemouth giving me my chance. However, like any player, I have the ambition to play at the highest level and, for footballing reasons, if the opportunity comes up over the coming weeks then I would hope we would be able sit down and look at it. Ings, who was under contract to Cherries until 2013, had been offered improved terms to remain at the Seward Stadium.
