Commons out of Denmark clash

Scotland manager Craig Levein has confirmed that Kris Commons will not be playing against Denmark on Wednesday. The Celtic man reported for international duty wearing a protective boot before returning to the club's Lennoxtown training base for further treatment. As the match was only a friendly the Bhoys were always keen for their star playmaker to miss out rather than aggravate the knock.Although Commons' condition has been improving since Sunday, Levein has now confirmed he will play no part against Denmark.Asked whether Commons would be available, Levein replied: "Unfortunately not - he becomes the third withdrawal. He's got bone bruising."Levin accepts the timing of the friendly is unlikely to win friends with SPL managers, although he does believe the players benefit from the experience.Scotland have upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Lithuania and Levein is pleased to be tackling touch opposition in Denmark."I've got a great deal of sympathy with club managers having been on the other side of the fence," continued the ex-Dundee United manager."We've got the find this common ground where I try and do my best to keep the clubs happy."They've (the managers) got to have the trust to send their players away on international duty."Sending your players away on international duty should add value to the players, where the experience or financial value."I deliberately picked a tough fixture. Looking at where we are it would be good to play opposition who are comparable to Czech Republic."I will guarantee the players will be playing at their absolute the top level of their efforts."
