Anders Lindegaard risks Sir Alex Ferguson's fury in Denmark game

Denmark goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard joked he could face a fine from his Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson if he denies Scotland in their friendly match at Hampden Park on Wednesday. Lindegaard was on the bench for the Old Trafford side at Wembley on Sunday as they beat rivals Manchester City 3-2 in the Community Shield. However, at the full-time whistle former Scotland boss Ferguson warned him not to stop Craig Levein's side in Glasgow. National service: Anders Lindegaard is in the Denmark squad to face ScotlandThe 27-year-old goalkeeper, who will fight it out with Thomas Sorensen for a start at Hampden, revealed his discussion with Ferguson, saying: 'He took me aside on Sunday and said he would fine me if I made any good saves against Scotland. 'Of course, he said it with a smile and a laugh - and a friendly pat on my shoulder. Hopefully he wasn't being serious. You don't want to see me angry: Sir Alex Ferguson'It's a huge privilege to play under him at Manchester United. He's been around at the club for as long as I can remember, from my first memory as a human being. 'So he's a true legend and to work with him is a massive honour for me. He's a world-class manager who makes all his players better. 'I've already become a better keeper under him.' If Lindegaard does play against the Scots, he will not get to face his Old Trafford team-mate Darren Fletcher who is still out ill with a stomach virus. However, he is adamant Fletcher can be a big player for the Red Devils this year. Lindegaard said: 'It would have been fun to play against Darren. He's been good to me at United, he's a positive guy who's always smiling and friendly. 'He's got a great attitude towards the game and I enjoy playing with him, definitely. He's what we call in Denmark a 'stand-up' guy. It's great to share a dressing-room with him. 'Sadly, he's been away for a long time. I was injured and when I came back he picked up this virus. He's been struggling for a while now but hopefully he can get better soon because he's going to be an important player for United this season.'
