Davis backs Healy to find form

Steven Davis has backed his Rangers team-mate David Healy to rediscover the form that made him Northern Ireland's record goalscorer. Healy's return of 35 goals makes him the most prolific player in Northern Ireland's history and he also set a UEFA record when he plundered 13 in the Euro 2008 qualification campaign. He has endured a lean patch in recent seasons, though, struggling for regular game time at club level and last scoring at international level against San Marino in October 2008.Nigel Worthington has used the 32-year-old in an increasingly sparing way, with Kyle Lafferty taking over as first-choice striker and Healy frequently relegated to the bench. But Davis has seen enough of his Ibrox colleague of late to believe he can find his old firepower in the must-win Euro 2012 qualifier against the Faroe Islands on Wednesday. With injuries to Lafferty, Josh McQuoid, Martin Paterson and Warren Feeney as well as the withdrawal of James McClean in favour of the Republic of Ireland, he may need to."David Healy's record speaks for itself," said Davis."I have no doubt that he will get back to goalscoring form because he has so much quality."Playing at Rangers with David, I see him every day in training and if he gets a chance, nine times out of 10 he will put it away."His record for Northern Ireland has been phenomenal and after a good pre-season he is raring to go."Unfortunately in football people will always have an opinion and some have maybe written David off, which is strange."All the players know what he is capable of, though, and hopefully if he is in the side against the Faroes he will get back to his goalscoring best."
