Scholes hails 'brilliant' Sneijder

Paul Scholes has labelled Wesley Sneijder as a "brilliant" player, while also praising the current crop of youngsters at Manchester United. Scholes, who is now on the coaching staff at Old Trafford, is yet to be replaced - amid claim and counter claim about whether the club will bring in a new face.Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted he will use players currently at his disposal to fill the huge void left by Scholes's absence - but chief executive David Gill has confirmed at least one new signing is in the offing as claims about a deal for Sneijder refuse to go away.Indeed Tuesday's Daily Mirror claims the Dutchman could be a United player this week if agreement can be met over the structure of his pay."Yes, Sneijder's brilliant," Scholes told MUTV."He's been brilliant for the last year or so with Inter Milan and Holland. I don't think it probably worked out as well as he would have liked at Real Madrid but he's a top player. "I'm sure there's a lot of clubs who will be after him if he is available."But Scholes insisted that United's current batch of young midfielders - such as Tom Cleverly, Paul Pogba and Ryan Tunnicliffe, were good enough to come in."We've got a lot of young talent as well, people like Tom Cleverley coming back from Wigan, Paul Pogba's another good player and another good midfielder in the youth team set-up," he continued.Scholes did single out Tunnicliffe, who has joined Peterborough on-loan, as one to watch."It's very difficult to single people out because there were that many in that youth team that were brilliant last year," admitted the former England international. "Ryan Tunnicliffe was sensational in midfield every time I saw him."
