Manchester City 3 Inter Milan 0: match report

By Rory Smith, in Dublin6:20PM BST 31 Jul 2011Comments Redemption for Mario Balotelli, revitalisation for Edin Dzeko. In a summer dominated by the drawn-out departure of Carlos Tévez and the whirlwind arrival of Sergio Aguero, it is easy to think of Manchester City as a one-man show. This was a timely reminder, on the eve of the biggest season in the club's history, that Roberto Mancini's supporting cast isn't too bad at all. Given the price tags which hang from the lapels and weigh down on the shoulders of both men, that is the least they should be able to offer. Balotelli, that sneering, brooding bundle of trouble, cost £23 million, Dzeko, for so long toothless, inept, an even more princely £27 million. Both have made poor first impressions. Both clearly have the quality to make sure those impressions do not last. Balotelli menaced from the first minute. Related Articles
