Aston Villa have reportedly entered the race to sign Blackpool striker DJ Campbell, who had looked set to join QPR. Campbell was on the Villa books as a youngster but was not offered a professional contract and left the club to join Chesham in 2000.Now 29, the Hammersmith-born forward could be set for a return to Birmingham, where he also spent a season with Blues in 2006/7.QPR have met the £1.25million release clause in Campbell's Seasiders contract but The People claims Alex McLeish has entered the race for his services and a deal could be tied up with Villa instead once they return to the UK from their Asia Trophy adventures.
