Latics swoop for Johnstone

Oldham have signed Manchester United academy goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on loan following an injury to Dale Connor. England youth international Johnstone, 18, has been brought in after Connor cracked a bone in a finger in training on Monday.Connor joins Alex Cisak (also finger) and Paul Gerrard (hernia) on the sidelines, leaving 16-year-old Luke Simpson as the only fit keeper on the books.Johnstone has been drafted in as temporary cover and will make his first appearance for the club against Burnley on Tuesday night before also appearing in Oldham's final warm-up game at Fleetwood on Saturday."Sam is very highly rated by United and we are delighted he is here to help us out," boss Paul Dickov told the club's official website.
