Orlando Pirates 0 Spurs 3: Van der Vaart double lifts Redknapp

Rafael van der Vaart scored twice as Tottenham - once again captained by Luka Modric - beat Orlando Pirates 3-0 to win the Vodacom Challenge in the last match of their pre-season tournament in South Africa. Van der Vaart netted in each half and Jermain Defoe added a third for as Harry Redknapp's men claimed their first win in three matches on tour. Lift off: Jermain Defoe's volley beats Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa Van der Vaart curled in a 35th-minute free kick and the Holland midfielder broke clear for his second in the 53rd after a defence-splitting pass from left back Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Defoe's volley at the far post from a Gareth Bale cross made it 3-0 with three minutes left. Tlou Segolela missed an 80th-minute penalty for the South African league champions.
