Gers told to pay up for Saint

Rangers have been told by St Johnstone that they will need to pay the 'going rate' if they plan on acquiring Murray Davidson. Gers have tabled a bid for the 23-year-old midfielder, however, it has been labelled as 'far short' of the club's valuation. The Saints admit they will not stand in the way of a player looking to progress their careers, but Rangers must pay his worth.Chairman Geoff Brown would not reveal the sum the Light Blues offered and now hopes Davidson is not unsettled going forward."It fell far short of our valuation of Murray," explained Brown."I'm not going to say what the offer was, but let's just say the time it took to respond was the time it took to type out 'no thank you'."If a player is regarded by a club like Rangers as a first-team squad man he must have a value. And they haven't come close to what we believe this player is worth."We don't want to close any doors because there is also a player we have to consider. But any club wanting Murray has to pay the going rate and certainly not what was being offered by Rangers."I hope this doesn't unsettle him with our first game of the season at Aberdeen this weekend. We've made it clear we won't stand in the way of a player going on to a bigger stage."
