Liverpool's Mavinga set for Rennes

Liverpool left-back Chris Mavinga will sign for Rennes on Tuesday, providing he passes a medical, the French club announced on their website on Monday. No fee has been revealed, although it is believed Liverpool will receive in the region of 1.5 million euros ($2.1m) for the France under-20 international. Mavinga, 20, joined the Premier League side from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2009. However, he failed to make the breakthrough at Anfield and spent the second-half of last season on loan at Genk, helping them win the Belgian title. If he completes his move to Rennes, Mavinga will miss the beginning of the new Ligue 1 season as he will be with the France squad at the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia.
