Brown is preparing to smash the club's transfer record to sign Negredo after confirming talks with Real have been ongoing for several weeks.Negredo has also been heavily linked with a move to Italian outfit Roma, but Brown is optimistic of persuading the 23-year-old to head to the KC Stadium.Having missed out on several targets already this summer, Brown is not getting carried away about his prospects of clinching the deal. However, the Tigers chief feels the potential deal is a sign of the club's ambition and he has been pleased with the progress of talks so far."He will be an expensive signing for anybody," Brown told Sky Sports News."When you are going into the £12m brackets, and our record signing is £5m on Jimmy Bullard, it's a sign of intent."It's not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination, but the fact that we're sitting round a table with representatives from Real Madrid, and certainly a player from Real Madrid, shows the sign of intent from the chairman, and hopefully from the manager."Brown added: "We're quite pleased with what we've done so far at our end."We're obviously hoping to tie up the loose ends at the Real Madrid end by the close of play on either Monday or Tuesday."
