Bhoys finalise Wanyama deal

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Victor Wanyama as manager Neil Lennon played down the consequences of Beram Kayal's broken nose. Kayal was injured after being caught by an accidental elbow from Adam Hughes during Celtic's 2-0 friendly win over Perth Glory. But the Israel international is not expected to miss Celtic's SPL opener against Hibernian on July 24 - and could even feature in the final match of their Australian tour against Melbourne Victory on Wednesday.Lennon told Fox Sports: "He got a broken nose and we don't want to take any chances with him."We will wait until he gets fit again. He may play the next game here - or he may not be involved until we are back in the UK."Celtic later confirmed that Wanyama had signed a four-year contract following their successful appeal to the Scottish Football Association over his work permit on Friday. The 20-year-old Kenya international, who has been signed as a centre-back, has to wait in Belgium for the UK Border Agency to rubber-stamp the SFA's decision. But Celtic confirmed he would be joining them after he passed a medical yesterday.Wanyama, who has been signed as a defender following his near £1million move from Germinal Beerschot, told the club's official website: "I am delighted to sign for Celtic Football Club. With the formalities now out of the way, I can look forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and manager on their return from Australia."It has always been a dream of mine to play for a club like Celtic."After reading the club's incredible history I have chosen 67 as my squad number to show appreciation to the 1967 squad."My ambition at Celtic is to win many trophies like the Lisbon Lions."Meanwhile, Lennon was thoroughly satisfied with his team's performance after goals in each half, from Gary Hooper and Charlie Mulgrew, gave them a comfortable win following last weekend's 1-0 loss to Central Coast Mariners."We played well," Lennon said. "We were very, very bright tonight."The second goal gave us breathing space to knock the ball about a bit."It's all about progress and the players have done well after suffering a little bit of jetlag in the first game."
