Kris expects tough Glory test

Kris Commons says jet lag left him sitting out Celtic's 1-0 defeat to Central Coast Mariners on their Australian pre-season tour last Saturday. However, following a series of rigorous training sessions this week, the attacking midfielder is feeling revitalised ahead of the second fixture of the trip against Perth Glory on Saturday."Jet lag affected a few people in different ways and I just didn't quite get over mine in time for the game," the Scotland international told Celtic's official website."It was quite a gruelling schedule when we got over here."We had some hard training sessions and I didn't feel I was ready to play a game, and the last thing I wanted to do was pick up an injury and miss most of the tour."So now that I've had more rest and more training sessions, I can play a bigger part on Saturday."Watching from the sidelines in Sydney, Commons, 27, was impressed by the Mariners' quality and will be happy with more of the same from their A-League rivals."From an outsider looking in, I think the standard was pretty good," said the Scotland midfielder."They kept the ball well. So for us it will be another tough test but that's the sort of test you want in pre-season."You don't want too many easy games."For us it's going to be hard work and we are going to have to put ourselves about."It's something I'm relishing."Neil Lennon's training regime has become more gruelling over the last few days as the bid to get ready for the new season gathers pace. However, Commons believes employing a proper recovery processes is just as important."We have certainly stepped it up, so recovery is the main thing," he said."Training once you have warmed up is no problem. It's short, sharp and pretty good and enjoyable."But like I said, the recovery is the main thing, getting the right fluid on board, getting your feet up and resting."
