Megson hails 'honest' Trotters
Megson has enjoyed a successful foray into the transfer market with Zat Knight, Sam Ricketts, Sean Davis and Paul Robinson having arrived at the Reebok Stadium during the summer.South Korea international midfielder Lee Chung-Yong, 21, has also completed a £2.2million move from FC Seoul ahead of Saturday's home clash with Sunderland.The signings are not likely to have got Bolton fans too excited ahead of the new season but Megson could hardly be happier.The Trotters boss said: "I can honestly say, hand on heart, that nobody will be as good as my players this season in terms of effort and honesty."That's the kind of players they are and we're determined to keep on making progress."There is real competition for places now with the players we've been brought in."I've been delighted with all of them. They're all really good lads and have fitted in exceptionally well."There is extra quality as well as extra competition."Megson recruited Davis from Portsmouth on a free transfer and strengthened his defence by bringing in Robinson on a season-long loan from West Brom.Ricketts and Knight arrived from Hull and Aston Villa respectively for undisclosed fees and all four players are in line to make their debuts against Steve Bruce's side.Megson could be forgiven for casting an envious eye towards the Stadium of Light where Bruce has been handed the funds by Sunderland's billionaire owner Ellis Short to embark on a huge spending spree.Darren Bent, Fraizer Campbell, Lorik Cana, Paulo Da Silva and Lee Cattermole have all joined the Black Cats this summer following Bruce's appointment.Megson said: "Don't forget that Steve also did a terrific job at Wigan last season when he didn't spend a lot of money."He's now at a huge football club and has got the wherewithal to spend big money."Cattermole is a really good deal at £6million and that's why Steve has gone there."They are a big football club with big finances to spend, just like they did under Roy Keane, but with that comes pressure."
