Friendly wins for Hibs and Terrors

Colin Calderwood guided Hibernian to a 3-0 friendly victory at Berwick Rangers, while Dundee United and Inverness also earned pre-season wins. Calderwood cut a relaxed figure in the Shielfield Park dugout despite doubts over whether he will lead Hibs into the SPL season.Calderwood is believed to be wanted by both Birmingham and Nottingham Forest for an assistant manager's role with Hibs continuing to decline to comment on the situation. The former Forest manager watched summer signing Garry O'Connor give Hibs the lead on his return to action when he converted the penalty he had won himself just before the interval.Calderwood made nine changes at the break before Victor Palsson's deflected effort and a cool finish from Akpo Sodje saw them win comfortably.David Goodwillie, another who is in demand, made a late appearance off the bench as Dundee United won 2-0 at Forfar.Cardiff are reported to be leading the race to sign Rangers target Goodwillie but he was at Station Park and came off the bench with United already leading through an own goal and a Johnny Russell strike.Gary Mackay-Steven, who is hoping to win a move to Tannadice from Airdrie, started the game but there was a blow for United boss Peter Houston when Scott Robertson went off injured in the second half.Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre put out entirely different teams in each half of their 1-1 draw at Irn-Bru Second Division champions Livingston, including a trialist right-back in the opening period.Martin Hardie continued his fine goalscoring form from last season when he met Joe Cardle's fifth-minute corner with a powerful header. Iain Russell attempted to keep the ball out with his hands but referee Mike Tumilty sensibly awarded the goal.Russell soon levelled when he intercepted Hardie's pass before lifting the ball over Paul Gallacher.Richie Foran netted a hat-trick as Inverness continued the Highland leg of their pre-season campaign with a 3-0 victory at Elgin.Foran hooked home the only goal of the first half before rounding off a comfortable win for Caley Thistle, who again included former Rangers player Andrew Shinnie in their team.
