Kenyan defender to join Bhoys

Celtic stepped up their summer recruitment drive on Thursday as they secured a deal to bring Kenyan defender Victor Wanyama to Parkhead. The club have agreed a fee with Belgian club Germinal Beerschot for the 20-year-old, who has accepted the personal terms.A statement on the club's official website added: "Victor will join the club in the summer subject to a work permit and medical."Wanyama, who is the brother of Inter Milan's McDonald Mariga, made his international debut aged just 15 in an unofficial friendly against Nigeria.Celtic's bitter Old Firm rivals, Rangers, had also been linked with a move for the defender, while Aston Villa were understood to be interested.Wanyama's impending arrival follows the signings of full-back Adam Matthews from Cardiff and centre-back Kelvin Wilson from Nottingham Forest, both of whom signed pre-contract deals in the winter.Manager Neil Lennon has also been linked with Israeli striker Omer Damari, who plays for Maccabi Petah Tikva, and Kaizer Chiefs forward Knowledge Musona.Lennon has also admitted interest in Central Coast Mariners midfielder Mustafa Amini, 18, who will play against the Hoops in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
