McCann makes Clarets commitment

Irish midfielder Chris McCann has signed a new two-year contract with Burnley. The 23-year-old has spent his entire senior career with the Clarets and has now committed himself to the Championship club until 2013.McCann has missed most of the last two seasons due to injury but returned for the last four games of last season to demonstrate his worth to manager Eddie Howe.He has now been rewarded with a new contract and has the chance to add to his record of 175 appearances and 21 goals for Burnley."It's been a drawn-out affair but I'm happy it's done and I can concentrate on football," McCann told the club's official website."I am happy to be staying here. It's the club I grew up playing for, so I'm delighted."There was never any real doubt of what I wanted to do or where I wanted to be."It's the right choice to stay and hopefully get regular football here."McCann missed just two league games as Burnley won promotion to the Premier League in 2008/09.But he managed just 12 games over the last two years having undergone knee surgery."The club has been good to me since I've been here and through the injuries I've had they have stuck by me," he added.
