Gers' Goodwillie bid rejected

Dundee United have rejected a bid from Scottish Premier League champions Rangers for striker David Goodwillie. The 22-year-old has been the subject of reported interest from npower Championship side Cardiff and Rangers, who tabled the offer on Wednesday.A United spokesman said: "We can confirm we have received a bid from Rangers for David Goodwillie."The bid has been rejected because it does not meet our valuation."United issued a statement on Tuesday night insisting no bid had been received from Rangers. But Rangers made their approach on Wednesday and were rebuffed by United.Goodwillie has long been linked with a move from Tannadice to Ibrox and was the subject of intense speculation over a move in January. However, it appears there is a difference in the amount new Rangers owner Craig Whyte is willing to pay and United's £2million valuation of the player, who in March signed a one-year contract extension until May 2013.Speaking on Monday, Rangers boss Ally McCoist said: "I wouldn't say it's dead in the water."The interest certainly isn't dead in the water."Our representatives have spoken with Stephen Thompson at Dundee United so there has been dialogue, although there has been no offer made as yet."
