Dons start with Saints test

Aberdeen will kick-off their 2011/12 Scottish Premier League season at home to St Johnstone. Craig Brown's Dons will launch the campaign on July 23 before a trip to St Mirren the following week.They take on Neil Lennon's Celtic at Pittodrie on Saturday, August 6.Aberdeen face Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday, August 27 and play Ally McCoist's side twice more, at Pittodrie (October 29) and in Glasgow again on January 21.Celtic play host to the Dons on October 22, with a third clash against the Bhoys lined up for March 3 at Pittodrie.Aberdeen chief executive Duncan Fraser declared the Dons largely happy with the fixtures.He said: "I think we have to be pleased with the fact that, for the vast majority of the season, we are home and away on alternate matches."But Fraser revealed the club will seek a change of date for their festive fixture at Inverness, which is set to take place on December 24.He added: "All clubs have been allocated a fixture on Christmas Eve - in our case a trip to Inverness."The SPL I know will look to work with clubs that may seek to bring that game forward and that is something we will try to do nearer the time."I'm sure many of our supporters will baulk at the thought of a game on a day that is traditionally a time for families to be together."
