John Carew wants Stoke move

ShareAston Villa striker John Carew has admitted he will be leaving Villa Park in the summer.The 31-year-old Norweigan has been on loan at FA Cup runners-up Stoke City since January but he is still idolised at Villa Park.Carew admitted he will leave the club with a heavy heart but revealed he would be seeking pastures new in the summer, with a permanent move to the Britannia Stadium the most likely option. 'We will speak when the season is over.'I love the club immensely, but my time there is finished.'Carew fell out with Gerard Houllier while the pair were at Lyon and he fell out of the first team when the Frenchman arrived at the club.But the ex-Valencia player says he had already thought about leaving Villa before the Houllier's arrival.He added: 'Even before the season started, I felt that soon it would be time to move on. When Houllier came it became even more clear. New love: Carew has enjoyed his time at Stoke'Signing a new contract at Villa was never in my mind, but there will always be a place for Villa and the fans in my heart.'The giant striker revealed that his preferred destination would be Stoke, admitting he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club.'I want to stay in England and I love it at Stoke,' he said.'The changing room is amazing. There is a really strong team spirit here.'It is a fantastic group to be part of and I'm really enjoying that side of it.
