County eye Schmeichel swoop

The Magpies' director of football Sven Goran Eriksson knows the young Dane from his own time at Eastlands.Schmeichel has come through the youth ranks at City and was briefly the club's number one in 2007 under Eriksson.Joe Hart took over from him before Schmeichel went on loan to the likes of Cardiff and Coventry.Schmeichel is determined to leave and although a move to League Two is unlikely to have been high on his list of destinations, he could be ready to accept a switch to the ambitious Magpies.It is believed County are looking to take Schmeichel on a free transfer despite the fact he has two-years left on his current deal.
