Sturrock ready to ring the changes

Southend are set for an overhaul in the summer under measures drawn up by manager Paul Sturrock. The Scot revealed that he will be formulating a plan to take the club forward, including changes to his backroom staff and the playing squad. He told the Echo: "I am currently in the process of restructuring the entire football club. "I will be coming up with a blueprint of how I want things to be run from top to bottom and will then take that to the powers that be. Ideally, this is something I would have liked to have done much sooner, probably before Christmas. "As well as that I will be changing the squad and will be holding meetings with our out-of-contract players on Thursday." Defender Johnny Herd has already suggested that he will leave the club at the end of the season.
