Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier to leave hospital in 24 hours

Gerard Houllier has been discharged from hospital with fresh words of warning about a return to his job as Aston Villa manager. Specialists gave Houllier the all-clear to return home after an eight-day stay in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham following a heart scare. And even though his assistant Gary McAllister painted a glowing picture of his boss's health, others are unsure whether a return to the hot-seat would be wise. McAllister said: 'Gerard has just come through a scan and the doctors are really pleased. As for his future, he will be advised by the specialists. 'But, knowing Gerard's love for the game, he will want to come back.' However, Duncan Dymond, a cardiologist who has been consulted by Chelsea in the past, told talkSPORT Houllier's condition - a dissection of the aorta - was 'very dangerous'. He said: 'My assessment is that Mr Houllier has had one brush with the grim reaper already and now he's had another serious warning. 'When you have had a dissection once, you are more likely to get it again. Instead of putting himself through all the stresses and strains of being a football manager, he should call it a day.'
