Manchester City legend Colin Bell hits out at fans for sick Munich chanting

Manchester City legend Colin Bell has become the first high-profile figure to demand his club's fans stop their controversial 'Munich' chanting. A minority of City supporters tarnished their team's Barclays Premier League win at Blackburn on Monday by referring to fans of rivals Manchester United as 'Munichs' in a song hailing their recent FA Cup semi-final victory. Cut it out: City fans have incorporated references to the Munich disaster into a song following the semi-final winAnd last night former City star Bell spoke out in a bid to stop fans tainting the memory of the 23 players, staff, officials and journalists who died when a plane carrying the United party home from a European Cup tie crashed at Munich airport in 1958. Bell, 65, said: 'They are not true City supporters. Football is a sport at the end of the day and they are chanting about people's lives. It has gone on long enough and I appeal to them to stop. It's sad and I think it is truly out of order. 'I played for City and now consider myself a supporter of the club and these chants are degrading the club. I don't like it one little bit.' Edin in the wrong direction: The chants were overheard in the recent win at BlackburnCity have worked tirelessly to eradicate such behaviour, securing banning orders against supporters who make aeroplane gestures.  Man City legend Bell calls for an end to 'degrading' Munich chantsFinal stretch!
