Sir Alex Ferguson: Our experience will see us through

Happy days: Sir Alex Ferguson celebrates win over EvertonSir Alex Ferguson insists his players have the experience to successfully negotiate the four games in 13 days that will make or break Manchester United's dream of a European and domestic double. They face Schalke on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final, with the return at Old Trafford the following Wednesday. In the Premier League, the leaders travel to Arsenal next Sunday and entertain Chelsea the following weekend. But, first, Ferguson is banking on United's impressive away record in Europe to provide a foundation for the second leg against Schalke. His side have not conceded away from home in Europe this season and the United boss said: 'We're going into this game with far more experience than we have in previous years and our experience away from home has been terrific.' He acknowledged they have not had a good record against German sides since they beat Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final but added: 'You can't always be unlucky and sometimes it'll change for you.' But he warned his players to beware of Schalke's ex-Real Madrid striker Raul, 33, who he considered signing last summer. 'He was always a player with good football intelligence and a fantastic goal record. It's 71 in Europe, bloody hell, I hope it stays that way for the next few weeks. 'You've got to be careful in the last third of the field.'  Explore more:People: Alex Ferguson Places: Europe
