Darren Bent has expressed his relief at finalising Sunderland switch

DARREN BENT has expressed his relief at finally completing his £10m move to Sunderland. The former Tottenham striker finalised the transfer late on Wednesday evening in a deal that could see Spurs recoup the £16.5m they paid for Bent in 2007.The forward's transfer looked to be on the verge of collapsing, as the two sides failed to reach an agreement on the transfer fee.But the saga, which has dragged on for a fortnight, was eventually completed when Spurs agreed to settle for a smaller upfront fee.And Bent, 25, is pleased his old side decreased their demands. He said: "It seems like it's taken a long old time to come around, but now it's finally here I'm delighted."I'm feeling relief more than anything as it's been dragging on for two or three weeks and it was beginning to get a bit frustrating."But I'm here now and I'm looking forward to starting the season with Sunderland."Bent moved to Tottenham in 2007 on the back of a successful stint at London neighbours Charlton. But despite finding the back of the net on 25 occasions in 79 appearances, the four-time England international failed to hold down a regular starting berth at White Hart Lane. And Bent revealed that the main attraction to the Stadium of Light was Sunderland boss Steve Bruce?s desire to sign him.Bent added: "The club made a real play to get me. They made me feel wanted and that meant a lot to me."I know how passionate the fans are and how much they love football - it's fantastic."There's definitely a lot of potential here as the stadium and the training ground are second to none."Bent was Tottenham?s leading goalscorer last season, with 17 goals. And the former Charlton forward has vowed to score even more for his new employers."There are no targets, but if I can score as many as last year and maybe a few more I'll be delighted."The first thing I've got to do is earn my place because we've some fantastic strikers here."Obviously I know Fraizer [Campbell] from last year, while big Kenwyne [Jones] and David Healy are here as well."But I've come here to play football. If I can work hard and produce the goods there should be no problem."I'm a goalscorer and I don't think that will change."Are you disappointed to see Bent leave the Lane? Let us know what you think?
