Peter Crouch looks set to sign for Tottenham Hotspur

TOTTENHAM are the favourites to sign wantaway Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch, according to reports.Crouch has been linked with a move to Sunderland and Fulham but it now seems he will sign for Spurs, after the north Londoners matched Pompey?s £12m valuation of the England striker. On Tuesday, Sunderland boss Steve Bruce conceded defeat in his pursuit of the sought-after forward, withdrawing the Black Cats' offer. Crouch flew into the North-East for talks with Bruce last Friday, but the former Wigan manager was unable to convince him to sign.?Naturally this is hugely disappointing for us as Peter was one of our primary targets," Bruce said. "I know he was impressed with the set-up here when he came for talks, but it's simply a matter of geographical location and that's not something we can affect.?Crouch is expected to hold talks with Spurs boss Harry Redknapp on Wednesday, with the move likely to be completed within 24 hours. And although Fulham have not given up hope of signing the lanky forward, Crouch?s desire to join Spurs makes them huge outsiders. Is £12m a good deal for Crouch?
