Royals run ended by Leeds

Leeds halted Reading's eight-game winning run but the point gained in the goalless draw was not enough to lift them back into an npower Championship play-off place. Nottingham Forest leapfrogged Leeds shortly before kick-off following their 3-2 home win over east Midlands rivals Leicester and while only goal difference separates the two sides these are anxious times at Elland Road. Simon Grayson's side did most of the probing against the high-flying Royals, who travelled north harbouring hopes of automatic promotion, such is their confidence following their terrific surge up the table. Leeds were foiled by the woodwork in the 67th minute. Bradley Johnson's powerful run carried him through two tackles and into the box but his left-footed shot clipped the crossbar. While it took several superb saves from Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy to deny Leeds, the Yorkshire side have won only one of their last seven league games at the business end of the season and Hull and Burnley can now join them on 66 points if they win their game in hand. Reading rarely tested Leeds goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and they are now four points behind second-placed Norwich.
