Alan Pardew has joined a five-man shortlist to become the new Watford manager

ALAN PARDEW has secured a place on the five-man shortlist to become the new manager of Watford.The former West Ham and Charlton boss faces a fight, however, to replace Brendan Rodgers at Vicarage Road despite the club being anxious to make a quick appointment.Hornets coach Malky Mackay is a leading contender along with Watford legend Nigel Gibbs, whose deal with Reading expires at the end of the month. And the Championship club will also interview St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes as well as Brentford boss Andy Scott later this week.Scott led Brentford to the League Two title last season and is rated as one of the most promising managers in the lower leagues.Pardew is desperate to get back into management after leaving Charlton last November but is expected to demand big wages.And with Watford struggling for cash, Scott could be the ideal man as the club looks to continue their trend of appointing young up-and-coming managers following the success of Aidy Boothroyd and Rodgers.Who should replace Brendan Rodgers at Vicarage Road?
