Port Vale assistant manager Geoff Horsfield is aiming to deliver promotion for the club's fans after the FA Cup exploits of rivals Stoke.
The Potters thrashed Bolton 5-0 at Wembley on Sunday to reach their first ever FA Cup final and Horsfield is hoping Vale can reach the npower League Two play-offs and win promotion in order to soften the blow of their neighbours' success.
Horsfield told The Sentinel: "Sunday will have been a painful day for our fans who watched Stoke get to the final.
"But let's hope Stoke win the FA Cup and we win promotion - that would be fantastic for the city."
