Southgate - Hard work the key

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has urged his side to live up to their tag as Championship promotion favourites. The Teessiders, who opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Sheffield United on Friday night, are hotly-tipped to make an immediate return to the top flight. Southgate told the Evening Gazette: "I've seen the bookmakers have put us among the favourites. That's OK by me. I'd rather be up there than not. It's an indication of what we are trying to achieve here this season. "We didn't start off with a win against Sheffield United but everybody worked extremely hard for the shirt and that's exactly what we were looking for. "The 11 men we put out every week will be totally committed towards trying to get this club back into the Premier League. If we continue to work hard for each other like we did on Friday, we can achieve our goal."
