Glenn Hoddle: Cardiff full house won't stop Wayne Rooney firing England to victory against Wales

Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle is backing Wayne Rooney to fire England to glory over Wales in tomorrow's Euro 2012 qualifier at the Millennium Stadium.Ex-England boss Hoddle, who enjoyed a 53-cap international career, feels Rooney is hitting peak form at the right time and will prove too strong for a Wales side who lost their their opening three games in Group G.England dropped two vital points at home to early leaders Montenegro so need a win to get their campaign back on track - but Hoddle has no fears. Kick-starting my season: Wayne Rooney scores his wonder goal against Manchester City 'Wayne Rooney is really getting going now and grabbing spectacular goals,' said Hoddle.'With himin form and playing well England should have too much. I expect Rooney to be champing at the bit to get at the Welsh and don't think he'll disappoint.'Rooney -like most of the England squad - had a dreadful World Cup and matters reached a head against Algeria when he slammed supporters for jeering the team following the 0-0 draw with the Africans. However, the Manchester United striker's spectacular overhead kick to beat Manchester City last month breathed new life into his season and kept his side on course for the treble. The Castrol Predictor - based an all the facts, figures and results, suggest England have a 63 per cent chance of winning in Cardiff and Hoddle believes this is more than realistic. That's better: Wayne Rooney celebrates that City strike eight months after his on-camera World Cup tiradeHe added: 'It's not often the away team are such favourites and any international is a hard game but on this occasion England should be too strong.'Wales will be roared on by a full house but they shouldn't beat England.'However, Hoddle knows only too well what can happen.Confident: Ex-England boss Glenn HoddleIn 1980 he was part of an England team crushed 4-1 by Wales at Wrexham in a Home International and he recalls 'the dustbowl' on that fateful day.'The pitch was nothing like they will pay on this weekend and we made the mistake of trying to pass our way along it. It was a big mistake.'Wales had quality players like Micky Thomas and Leighton James and it was just an awful day the office for us.'It was one of many occasions as both player and boss that Hoddle witnessed first hand how so-called lesser teams raise their game against England.'It's in their nature to want to beat England,' said Hoddle.'We have the biggest and best League in the world but sometimes that's no match for the passion and fire teams come at us with.'We must match the Welsh for passion and commitment or it could be an intriguing match.'I played in front of 110,000 roaring Scots at Hampden Park and that was one of the most incredible experiences of my career. There won't be that many at Wales v England but it might sound like it.'Castrol are Official Sponsors of UEFA Euro 2012TM.
