Coaching duo commit to Pompey

Portsmouth first-team coaches Ian Woan and Guy Whittingham have signed new contracts until 2013. Steve Cotterill's right-hand men would have been out of contract at the end of the season but have now committed themselves to Fratton Park for another two years. Boss Cotterill told the club's official website: "They're both good people who have been very supportive to me during the time I've been here. "I think from any manager's point of view, you need loyalty. I never knew I would get that when I arrived because they had been given jobs by other managers. But I think through a very difficult period at the football club they've actually enjoyed this season. "They'd been through a lot before I got to the club and I think this is a justifiable reward for them. They needed some stability and I'm really pleased for them. "If I was to pick one of them as an assistant-manager it would alienate the other one so it's better if they keep their status equal. That's what I've done - I've let them grow a relationship."
