Trust asks some questions

The Supporters Trust has asked some questions about the club's plans for the future of Motherwell FC. Let's have some debate about the way ahead. The Trust has issued a press release in the form of an open letter to the club board.  At the AGM last month John Boyle announced that he will donate his shareholding to the club.  The board indicated that they were working up plans to embed the club in the community and to ensure that no one individual would have outright control.  They encouraged those who have the club's interests at heart to join with them in the way forward. In order to stimulate debate on these matters the Supporters Trust has issued the following Trust poses questions to Motherwell FC Motherwell Supporters Trust fully supports the stated intention of the board Motherwell FC to spread the shareholding of the club to a mixture of fans, firms and others to ensure a wide community ownership. We wait with interest details of the scheme that will enable this transformation to take place and welcome the club’s invitation for those who wish to join with them in the next step of the club’s development to get in touch. Several issues have been raised with the Trust Board by members and others and we hope that consideration and discussion of these will contribute to the club’s deliberations and inform supporters. Some of the questions arising are:- What steps will be taken to ensure that control cannot be returned to one individual? Will the football club retain ownership of the stadium? Will the board consult with supporter groups (Trust, Association and others) before a formal announcement of the plans? Will John Boyle or Hamilton Portfolio retain any shareholding in the club? What future governance structure will be proposed for the club? Will there be fan representation on the club board?
