Clarets left with depleted strikeforce

Burnley manager Eddie Howe is short of strikers ahead of the trip to Hull. Charlie Austin will undergo surgery on a dislocated shoulder this week and has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Fellow frontman Steven Thompson is sidelined for at least a month following a groin operation and with Martin Paterson also absent with a thigh injury, Howe has only Chris Iwelumo and Jay Rodriguez fit and available. The Clarets boss is considering signing another forward on loan as he bids to maintain his side`s play-off push. However, assistant manager Jason Tindall said: "We've got a fantastic squad, we are short on numbers but the lads who are fit are very good players. Hopefully we won't get any more injuries."
