Cotterill eyes top-half finish

Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill was pleased with his side's 2-0 win over Scunthorpe and despite admitting his side may not yet be safe from relegation, the play-off places are still his aim. Goals from Dave Kitson and Aaron Mokoena handed Pompey a fifth straight league victory and at the other end Jamie Ashdown kept a fifth successive clean sheet. Cotterill said: "I don't know whether 47 points would actually do it (be enough to avoid relegation). I think it's more likely to be 48. I don't think it will be 50 or 52. But we're not too far from the play-offs either. "You have to set your goals and targets high because if we fail (to reach the play-offs) and end up in the top half of the table this year, what a good season that would be, considering everything that has gone on. "I'm sure there will be a lot of teams equally as big as us who would give their right arm to be where we are. "All credit to the lads - they've kept their heads down and carried on working. Hopefully they're getting a few rewards now."
