Cherries: Bradbury urges fringe stars to impress

BOSS Lee Bradbury urged Cherries' players to give him a selection headache and told the men on the fringes: Show me what you can do. Bradbury will hand a number of the club's professionals the opportunity to stake their claims when Cherries' reserves host Swansea City in the totesport.com Combination at Dean Court today (2pm). Long-term injury victim Mark Molesley is set to continue his comeback from a persistent foot problem by featuring and he will be aiming to complete his first full 90 minutes since returning. Mathieu Baudry, the French centre-half who joined last month, is expected to play in defence alongside veterans Stephen Purches and Warren Cummings. Talented playmaker Harry Arter and rookie frontman Jayden Stockley are also likely to be given the chance to catch the manager's eye. Bradbury has used just 14 different players in his starting line-ups since taking over from Eddie Howe, remaining loyal to the stars that have helped him remain unbeaten during his nine games in charge. But he is hoping the players that have yet to regularly force their way into his preferred XI can make his life difficult with their performances this afternoon. The Dean Court chief told the Echo: It will be a good chance for Moles and the subs that haven't played lately to get fit and show me what they can do. I want competition for places. If they are playing well in reserve games it stays in my mind and I know they are ready to come in and do a job in the first team. Bradbury added: Swansea are always a strong side so it will be good for some of the lads to get 90 minutes under their belts. They need the games. It is three weeks since we have had a reserve game. You can train as much as you like but you can't re-enact the scenarios you get in games, so it will be good for them. Goalkeeping prospect Dan Thomas, currently serving Dorchester Town on loan, is set to start, with summer signing Mitchell Nelson in line to partner Baudry in central defence.
