Brighton's League One title charge stalled at MK Dons on Saturday after their team coach broke down.
The Seagulls' squad were forced to travel from their hotel to stadium:mk in a convoy of taxis after the bus would not start.
They went on to suffer only their fifth defeat of the season after Daniel Powell's first-half header secured a 1-0 win for the hosts.
Boss Gus Poyet said: "There are no excuses. I would love to give you an excuse but I can't.
"It was not nice, but that's life."
Brighton's lead at the top was cut to just one point after second-placed Bournemouth won 2-1 at Dagenham.
