Adkins still wants automatic promotion

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins has his sights set firmly on the second automatic promotion spot in League One despite their midweek setback. Saints were held to a frustrating goalless draw at Hartlepool on Tuesday night and are now 10 points behind leaders Brighton following their win over Plymouth. But Saints remain in the play-off pack and still have realistic ambitions of catching south-coast rivals Bournemouth in second ahead of Saturday's visit of Swindon. Adkins said: "Brighton went and won which is frustrating, but everyone else is same as. "We have to keep grinding away and keep chipping away." Saints are currently assessing the injury back-up goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski sustained in training last week.
