Cherries: Bradders' striker search 'a hard task'

CHERRIES boss Lee Bradbury admits his search for a striker is proving more difficult than he had anticipated. Bradbury is keen to bolster his resources by adding a proven marksman in a bid to help boost Cherries' League One promotion push. But despite making a number of enquiries, his attempts to secure a loan signing from either a Premier League or Championship club have so far failed to come to fruition. His latest knock-back came yesterday after Bradbury had made an approach to West Brom for former Reading and Swindon striker Simon Cox. Bradbury told the Daily Echo: We are looking to bring in somebody who could affect a game for us, whether it is starting or coming off the bench. I spoke to West Brom about Simon Cox but he has got two or three Championship clubs in for him and wants to play at the highest level possible. We have got to do our homework and have got a list of players we are looking at but it is hard to get them out of clubs. We don't just want to bring in someone for the sake of it either and they would have to fit in with our group of lads and show the same work ethic. Everybody is looking for strikers and it isn't easy because a lot of Championship clubs aren't prepared to let them out. We have got a few we could take from the lower leagues but, ideally, we are looking for someone proven at this level. Bradbury and assistant Steve Fletcher are unlikely to pursue their interest in Dover's Adam Birchall after running the rule over him during their Conference South win at Eastleigh on Monday.
