Manchester United get better media coverage than City, complains Mike Summerbee

Manchester City legend Mike Summerbee has claimed that the English media are biased towards rivals United. Former City star Summerbee made a passionate appearance as a SKY TV pundit as his club lost 2-1 to United eight days ago at Old Trafford. And writing in the match programme at Eastlands for the FA Cup replay against Notts County, Summerbee followed that up by claiming that City do not get a fair press. Look away now, Mike. Rooney's stunning overhead kick settled theManchester derby in United's favour last week, but Summerbee is already fed up of seeing it He said: 'Most of the comments after my appearance have been positive and I thank people for that. 'I did lose my temper a little bit. 'What annoys me with the media sometimes is that they only see United. They go on as though we don't exist and that annoys me. 'I don't mind banter, I don't even mind jokes at our expense, but when I feel the progress that we have clearly made - on and off the field - is being ignored then it gets my goat. 'I was proud of the way we knocked the ball around at Old Trafford. We played some lovely football and on another day would have got at least a point out of the game. Back in form: City smashed Notts County 5-0 on Sunday in the FA Cup 'There are many City fans who will be sick of hearing that United are looking over their shoulder at us. But I believe the Reds are not hearing us coming behind them but are looking at us right alongside now.' Last weekend's derby was settled by a superb Wayne Rooney overhead kick, a goal United manager Sir Alex Ferguson described as one of the best he had ever seen. Summerbee added: 'I am already fed up of seeing and reading about that Rooney goal. It was special - any football fan would admit that - but you can have too much of it.'The day after the derby I came back from watching my grandson score two goals in his Sunday morning match, switched on the telly and there was that goal again.
