Blackburn captain Christopher Samba believes the Rovers defence must improve despite keeping a welcome first clean sheet in four games at the weekend.
The east Lancashire side sit in mid-table of the Barclays Premier League after a goalless draw with Newcastle at Ewood Park.
Samba, recently restored as captain after committing his future to Rovers, told the club's website: "I am happy to have a clean sheet but not really satisfied with the way we defended.
"There was a lack of communication and covering each other. We need to get back to the simple stuff that made us so hard to beat.
"From a solid defence we can build attacks and we need to organise better.
"We will build on this and try to get something more in the next game."
