Lam the man for Adkins

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins saluted Rickie Lambert after the prolific frontman brought up his half-century of goals in the 1-0 win over Carlisle. Lambert has had an injury-hit season but still took his tally to 14 when he tucked away Alex Chamberlain's clever pass two minutes before half-time. "Rickie Lambert scored his 50h goal for the football club, Adam Lallana came back from injury, we kept a clean sheet and got three points. They are the positives," said Adkins. "It was a good goal. Rickie had a superb season last year and on the back of that he has had to try and get his body right this season. "He is the big target man and some times that means your body goes through the ringer but he has done well to get fit and now he has been scoring goals regularly." Carlisle had Gary Borrowdale sent off for two fouls on Chamberlain, and Adkins added: "It was a definite booking and it was his second so he has got to go hasn't he? Alex has skinned him and he has been brought down. End of story."
