Agony: England will miss Rio Ferdinand Rio Ferdinand's injury problems returned last night when he suffered a calf injury that could rule him out for a fortnight. The defender was hurt during the warm-up before Manchester United's2-1 defeat at Wolves and will miss England's friendly against Denmarkon Wednesday. He cut a broody looking figure watching in the stands as United'sunbeaten record came to a end without him to partner captain NemanjaVidic in central defence. Ferdinand's misfortune should mean that Steven Gerrard takes the captain's armband again for England against the Danes. 'Rio hurt his calf and will probably be out for a couple of weeks,' said manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Ferdinand has struggled with back and knee injuries in the last yearand lost the club captaincy to Vidic eariler in the season. He does special exercises to maintain his fitness and only recently claimed that his back problems were a thing of the past, believing that Ferguson had managed his return to the team cautiously. Wolves 2 Manchester United 1: Kevin Doyle halts Red Devils' unbeaten run at 29 gamesUnited's warrior breed will never lose thirst for titles, insists FergusonAll the latest Manchester United FC news, features and opinion  Explore more:People: Alex Ferguson, Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard Places: United Kingdom
