Luis Suarez insists he can handle the Premier League after scoring on Liverpool debut

New Liverpool signing Luis Suarez insists he is not fazed by his move to English football. The Uruguay international joined the Reds on the back of a prolific goalscoring record for Ajax, with 111 goals in 159 matches, but his arrival was overshadowed by Andy Carroll's club-record ?35million transfer from Newcastle. While Suarez, 24, was delighted his Liverpool career got off to the perfect start with a debut goal in front of the Kop in the 2-0 win over Stoke on Wednesday, he knows he will have to work hard to replicate his Dutch success in the Barclays Premier League. Kop that: Luis Suarez nets his first goal for Liverpool in the victory over Stoke City Suarez said: 'I was aware it wouldbe quite tough to settle in andadapt with a rapid style of football. 'But having seen what I sawagainst Stoke, let's hope  every game turns out like that. It is a weight off your shoulders scoring your first goal.'You know everyone is keeping an eye on what you do, so it does relax you and helps from the word go.'But in terms of making the change from Dutch football it is a case ofdoing what youhave always done, concentrating on your own strengths rather than worrying about defenders. You just have to get on with it and play to your strengths.'Suarez was originally lined up to be the foil for Fernando Torres butnow the pair are likely to face each other at Stamford Br idge tomorrow. New boys: Liverpool manager Kenny Daglish with Andy Carroll and Luis SuarezThe Uruguayan said he is not disappointed to lose the opportunity to play alongside the World Cup winner, adding: 'I made my decision to come to Liverpool based on the fact they are a massive club with a great history and a great squad of players.'We all know Fernando is a top player and everyone would like to play with someone of his quality. 'Now I am here to play with other great players, too. Andy Carroll is not only blessed with great height and strength but he has good technique with his feet also and hopefully we will create a good partnership.'But there are other forwards at this club as well who can work together with us to have a positive outcome, do well and get good results.'Suarez chose the iconic No 7 shirt made famous first by Kevin Keegan and then current manager Kenny Dalglish, rated the club's greatest player. But the Uruguayan is not concerned by history - revealing he did not even know Dalglish had worn the number at Anfield.'When I saw the list of squad numbers available I chose seven because it was a number I just fancied,' he added.'It was only afterwards that it was pointed out it had such history and significance and obviously the current manager was a former wearer of the shirt, so I know now.'But there's no added pressure at all. As soon as I step on the field I forget about what number I am wearing on my back. I am just out there to help the lads and do the best I can for the team.' Spain star Fernando Llorente reveals Liverpool failed with January bid for striker There's no better man for the job!
