Cherries: Mitchell confirms duo in pole position for jobs

EDDIE Mitchell says caretaker duo Lee Bradbury and Steve Fletcher are the main contenders to take permanent charge at Dean Court. The Cherries chairman saw the pair stake their claim by gaining the first victory of their reign on Saturday an excellent 1-0 win over Brighton. A capacity crowd at Dean Court watched the hosts topple the League One leaders thanks to a superb second-half strike from Liam Feeney. Mitchell was delighted with the result, which followed a 0-0 draw at Rochdale in boss Bradbury's opening match at the helm. He initially appointed the caretakers for three or four games following Eddie Howe's departure to Burnley and is still to make a final decision on the vacancy as he plans to give them time to learn the role. But Mitchell admitted Bradbury and player-assistant Fletcher had improved their chances of succeeding Howe permanently by masterminding victory against Albion. He told the Echo: We couldn't have wished for a better day. It certainly hasn't done them any harm, let's put it that way. As it is at the moment, they are doing a great job and have got to be the main contenders. We're not going to rush into anything. But, certainly, with the way the boys are playing and the way they are being managed, we couldn't ask for anything better. Bradders was there at 9am on Saturday. That's the type of thing I'm looking for hard work and enjoyment. He added: What a club to be in charge of. At the moment, it is unbelievable and we are a fantastic team.
