Pitman pleased as punch

Hereford manager Jamie Pitman was pleased as punch as he celebrated a 3-0 win over fellow strugglers Stockport in a mid-season six-pointer at Edgar Street. An own goal from County's Andy Halls in the first few minutes was followed up by strikes from Mathieu Manset and substitute Guillem Bauza, while the Hatters saw Stephen Husband dismissed in the 35th minute for a second bookable offence. The result gave Pitman's charges their first home league victory of the season and also made it four wins in a row as the Bulls climbed off the foot of the table. "It was a must-win game for us and we have produced a very good performance," said Pitman. "We had moments when the ball flashed across the goalmouth but generally we were comfortable within the game. Obviously the start helped that and we then went from strength to strength, so give credit to the boys. It was a great finish from Matt (Manset) coming in on his right foot, and then Bauze has come on and has also finished his very well." He continued: "It was difficult conditions - the wind was strong and it was difficult to play on the pitch as it was quite wet. But everyone adapted to that and then mixed the game up as well - when we needed to, we also showed some quality football."
