Goals from David Vaughan and Jason Euell gave the Seasiders victory and Holloway will aim to further bolster his squad ahead of the weekend.
Signing Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam on a permanent deal was a huge boost to the Lancashire outfit but Holloway wants more new faces.
He said: "Obviously beating Everton pleased me but it doesn't matter because we got nothing for it.
"We could do with a good start on Saturday but I need to get the group moving forward, I need to add in the right places and I need to try to take my time."
